WOW! What an amazing weekend. There are so many people to thank but let's start with God for making this all possible. Thank you to the following: Steve, Amy and Abby Miles, All of the runners(too many to name but you are all loved and appreciated). The Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor for all of your support and a nice breakfast. Joe and Jesse for the "Fireworks," or the downed power line that started a fire, that was cool entertainment. The parents of the Saranac CC team for trusting us to have your kids run with us, they were amazing. Pastor Tom of The Church of Christ for your hospitality. The lady and her son at the Funeral Home for the popsicles. Wzzm 13 and The Grand Rapids Press for covering the story. Cornerstone United Methodist Church for being you, we are blessed to call you our church home and we hope to see all of our runners there some day. All of the friends and family who supported us on this journey, and thank you to my wife Abby for loving me and supporting me no matter what.

I lost my love for running but was reminded of why I love it when I saw how much you all love it. I look forward to seeing you on the road. I am always looking for company so let's do it.

Surgery went well and I am still in tons of pain. Iwill be back on the road in about six weeks. Thank you for your prayers and support. I will update you on my progress as well as the JTF details.

It was really cool to get out this morning. There is just something about the rain that I love, maybe it's the cleansing of the Earth. I didn't want to go but knowing that I wasn't going to be alone really helped. I'd rather have company and run too fast (Chris a.k.a. The RoadRunner) than be alone.

Surgery is this Thursday so I will be out for Saturday morning runs for a while. And so begins the 4-6 week recovery...well, after a night in the Hospital with all the Ice Cream I can eat. That reminds me of Forrest Gump.

I'll be back! See you all in a few weeks. I'll update on the recovery.

Today was great. For one, I was able to run with Steve, Howard, and Joe. By the way, for being 50, these guys can move-except for Steve, he's a young 30 (wink wink). For 30, he has given me inspiration to keep going. He has been training hard, and it shows. Good luck at the River Bank! The run today was full of complaints from me, but I decided to cut it short and run home. On my way, I realized a couple things; one day I will be in a wheel chair and will wish I could run, so I should do it while I can, and these old guys might need me to push them up the big hill on the m-6 trail. As it turns out, I watched Howard and Joe blaze a trail while Steve and I finished together. It was a nice run, and I can't wait until the next saturday morning at Kava House.
I ran Friday and felt like I was going to die. It was very discouraging since it was only like 3.7 miles, for me that distance should be easy but it wasn't. I got out though, and I realize that maybe I should get out more.

I went to Florida with my family over spring break and had a chance to run in actual sunshine. It was around a huge park with a lake (pond) i'm not sure which, but it was beautiful anyway. The trail was surrounded by Palm Trees, and at one point I even ran barefoot, not so sure that was a good idea but it felt right at the time.

Great day for a run. I feel renewed and I had a feeling during my run today that I haven't had in a while. It was the feeling like I just needed to hook onto my legs like a trailer and go for a ride. Today was 10.5, hopefully I can get up tomorrow for a 5 or so...or maybe some skateboarding.

Today was a great run because I felt obligated to run really far but I didn't. Instead, I ran 5 and really enjoyed myself for the first time in a long time.

I discovered a really good cross-training method..for those of you who know how injury prone I am brace yourselves...Skateboarding! It's really fun and you use your legs nonstop, it works the core, hips, and at times can be really humbling.

I feel good about this Journey and the only thing I ask for personally are your prayers to stay healthy and for our nerves, as this is the first time any of us has done such a thing.

Thanks, see you on the road!

Ran just over 7 today, I had to get out before the spring snow showers come. We will have t-shirts soon, I can't wait.

There is nothing like a 15 mile run to battle a sinus infection. The only good thing about snow right now is that it can be a much needed ice pack during long runs.

I'm getting really excited about this whole deal. As expected, I already have been battling some health issues as time gets closer. I can't seem to remain healthy and my reason for needing surgery is getting worse. Just pray that it holds off.

See ya' on the road!

Happy Birthday Faith! Steve, Amy, Abby, you guys are in our prayers.

What's up all?

This week so far I've gone 21 miles, 11 on monday and 10 today. I just can't stand to see a beautiful day pass while I'm indoors. That's the good news. The bad news, or for those who know me this is just par for the course, is that I need surgery...again. I may be able to fend off the problem until after the run but if I can't we are talking 4-6 weeks of recovery. This would really put a damper on things if I didn't trust the Lord. My remaining training time would be cut in half. If I can hold off I will get it the Thursday after the run if assuming I have the strength left for recovery.

I have been sick for a long time and to be honest I lost my fire for running so I haven't been out there in a while. I went 21 miles this week and I feel great. The one thing that gets me going is the support from my friends. Saturday morning runs at Kava House seem to be the cure, not just the run but the support and encouragement.

I have been stressed out about a ton of stuff and I thought finding time to run would be impossible. Funny thing though, running was the thing that got me to feel unstressed and focused. Out on the road with just me and my shoes and maybe a friend or two is when I really connect with God. I think about the things in my life that are important and I feel blessed.

I haven't been out lately but I got my cross training in. My Dodge Ram died about a 1/4 mile from home so I had to push it by myself, as always my wife was there to cheer me on.

Why worry about the things you can't control when you can concentrate on the things you can?

What are you trying to control in your life that needs to be given up to God?

After 20 yesterday I was afraid that I couldn't move this morning but I felt great, maybe the Daniel fast (feast) really helps you get stronger as it did for Daniel. Today with some encouragement I did 5 with Howard, Steve, Ken, Courtney, Tom, and Joe. Pretty good turnout for a winter run, we hope to see more in the future (Kava House on Kalamazoo & M6 saturdays at 7).
Yesterday was an adventure run. I ended up doing 20 miles but this time I brought food along with me, I had raw potato chunks and a PB&J on a whole wheat wrap. I felt pretty good until mile 17, I had to stop by the Miles' to get more water and my wife saved my life by stopping on her way home to give me a much needed kiss and an apple.

Here's a question, What do you do to get you through something when you feel like quitting?

Today was cold, and I was hungry and tired. Note to self, eat before running! I did 10.5 and I feel good now but I struggled. Running today was a stress reliever, and I really needed the relief. As long as I keep the goal in mind and remember that running is fun and keep in mind also why I enjoy running, all will be great. I need a running partner if anyone is interested. Abby, thank you for being so supportive during this training, I love you very much and you are an excellent wife and mother.

Good morning run today. I did 8 and felt really good even after a late night of basketball and video games until 2am. The other day I found a NintendoDS in the snow by my parents old house where I grew up. I know that kid is heartbroken so I set it where he could see it when he got off the bus. Today was cold but when i've got CCR's greatest hits going on the iPod I feel the warmth of summer days when I was a kid. Today was Me, Howard, Steve, Chris, and Ryan, Joe got lost while navagating his way through the neighborhood so he was at Kava when we got back. I hope Tom's knee gets better so he can try to do another 1000 miles this year, congrats Tom keep up the good work.

Ok, Today was a beautiful day for a run, I only wish I had company. I ran 6 to Church and filled my water bottle with green slushee and Abby picked me up on the road on the way home so we could both pick up Evan from daycare. I kind of dig the fact that I can almost go anywhere for a run. Like running errands and stuff like that.

Happy New Year to all! The training has officially started with the new year, I figure it's about time. So far I have done 13 miles this year, 3 on Sunday (1 barefoot), and 10 on Monday. I have a training schedule, more like a guideline, that will help if anybody is interested in joining. It includes Saturday morning runs with the Kava House crew, anyone is welcome to join.
